On Friday, California’s bar exam results were released and the pass rate sank to just 27.3%. This was a record low for the bar exam. The pass rate was 7 % points lower than last year and the first time since 1986 that it has fallen below 30%. The previous low, according to a summary of results since 1951, came in the spring of 1983, when 27.7% of applicants passed.
Surprising, only 27% of those applicants sitting for the bar exam were first-time takers, which means that 73% of those applicants were repeat takers.
The passing rate for first-time applicants was 39 percent overall, The passing rate for repeat applicants was 23 percent overall.
The repeat failure rate was shockingly high. These failure rates say you need to get a California bar exam tutor. Don’t do the same thing you did last time. You need to pass the bar exam and get the California bar exam behind you.
